Hutchinson, Thomas
(9 sep. 1711, Boston, Mass., EE.UU.–3 jun. 1780, Londres, Inglaterra).

Administrador colonial norteamericano. Hijo de un acaudalado comerciante de Boston, se dedicó a los negocios antes de ocupar cargos en el poder legislativo municipal y provincial (1737–49) y asistir como delegado al Congreso de Albany. Se desempeñó como vicegobernador (1758–71) y juez supremo del tribunal superior del estado (1760–69). Como gobernador (1771–74), impuso estrictamente el dominio británico. Cuando se le acusó de iniciar la odiada ley del Timbre, una muchedumbre alborotada atacó su residenciay él apenas escapó con vida. Su insistencia en que se descargara en Boston un cargamento de té, condujo al motín del té (ver Boston Tea Party). Fue reemplazado en el cargo por el gral. Thomas Gage.
